A founding partner of Nichols & Pratt in 1977, Jim Nichols is a partner of Nichols & Pratt, LLP and Nichols & Pratt Advisers, LLP. Jim has obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the the CFA Institute (formerly) the Association for Investment Management & Research (AIMR) and the Boston Security Analysts Society. Since 1986, Jim has been a director of Entergy Corporation. Jim is a past Chair and Commissioner of Trust Funds for the Town of Weston and was Chair of the Town’s Finance Committee. In addition to serving as a trustee of a numberof private foundations, Jim is a Life Trustee of the Museum of Science in Boston and served the Museum as Treasurer and Chair of its Finance Committee. Jim is a member of the Investment Management Committee of the Monadnock Community Hospital.

Prior to founding Nichols & Pratt, Jim provided investment advice for the Trust Department for Goodwin, Procter & Hoar, and prior to that was a lawyer in the Boston law firm of Herrick & Smith. Jim is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association.

Jim grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts and attended Dartmouth College graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude in Economics. Jim graduated from Harvard Law School in 1963, where he was a member of the winning Ames Moot Court Competition team in 1963.
